According to the agreement of Chinese and Korea and with the joint effort of relevant department, the two sides decided to hold a handover ceremony at 7:30a.m 28th, March. The handover ceremony is about the Korea give back the remains of Chinese people's Volunteer Army martyrs in Inchon International Airport. There are about 437 bodies and relics after confirmed.
These martyrs are sacrifice in the war to resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea, and they are buried scattered towards the Korean peninsula of "the military demarcation line." in recent years, they are explored and discriminated by the South Korean and then buried centralized in the South Korea gyeonggi paju cemetery. In June, 2013, during the visit of South Korean President Park Geun-hye, he proposed to Chinese leaders to transfer the martyr’s remains in Korean. With the joint care and promotion of Chinese and South Korea leaders, and the consultations of two rounds relevant departments, they confirm the final determination of the handover matters. On December 19, 2013, both sides started the excavating work for the remains of martyrs; on March 17, 2014, both sides jointly implemented the coffin burial activities for the remains. The Chinese delegation attended and held a memorial ceremony. After careful preparation, the two sides formally implemented handover ceremony today.
The two sides announced to the media when the handover ceremony ended. According to the consensus of both sides, they will establish a long-term cooperation mechanism. The South Korea will hand over the remains of martyrs excavated in their country to china before Tomb-sweeping Day.
