Spring in the Country
Spring comes: the lanes begin to be pleasant; the days grow longer. I walk out in the morning and see the buds on the trees; I hear the birds singing as if they had forgotten the winter. There is a softness in the air that makes me want to live forever.
I have lived through many springs, but each one feels like the first. The world renews itself, and I renew myself with it. That is the gift of April: not just warmer weather, but the quiet hope that something good is about to begin.
