Core /kɔːr/
The core is the middle part of some fruits.
An apple has a core with seeds inside.
We do not eat the core because it is hard and not tasty.
Parents often cut out the core before giving fruit to children.
Some fruits, like pears, also have a core you cannot eat.
After you eat the fruit, you can throw the core away.
