The international solar calendar, or the Gregorian calendar, is the most widely used civil calendar in the world. It is also known as the Western calendar or the Christian calendar. The Gregorian calendar is based on the solar year, which is the time it takes for the earth to make one complete orbit around the sun. It is used as the standard civil calendar in most countries, including the United States and much of Europe.
