Sarcasm is a form of expression in which speakers say something but mean the opposite, often to mock or ridicule the person or thing being referred to. The word "sarcasm" comes from the Greek word "sarkazein," which means "to tear flesh like a dog."

例如:

"Oh, that's just great, now I have to start all over." (said after someone made a mistake that caused a lot of extra work)
"Wow, this traffic is just fantastic." (said while stuck in a traffic jam)
